Waiting at Hayden's-The Romcom I Never Knew I Needed!

A month or so ago, Riley Costello found me on social media and asked if I'd like a copy of her book, Waiting at Hayden's.  I read the description but was somewhat hesitant.  I'm not really a "girly book" type of gal.  I know I gravitate towards murder and mayhem...but this is my year of taking chances and changing my outlook.  I said yes.  I AM SO GLAD I DID.  This has been one of my favorite books of the year. 💜

This book came out 07/10/18 and was published by Sullivan & Shea Publishing.

Childhood bffs Charli and Jack are madly in love throughout college and are faced with a major dilemma when Jack's path takes him to the west coast after graduation and Charli's path takes her to the east coast.  Neither wants to break up so they make a pact to reunite at their favorite restaurant Hayden's in five years.

It also follows the restaurant's owner Gianna.  She is 37 and seems to have everything going for her, including her dreamboat boyfriend Peter.  The day of the reservation, Gianna finds herself comparing her relationship to the love of Jack and Charli, wondering if there isn't more in life for her.

The night of the reunion, the two stories unfold, with slight surprises thrown in.  This book was so adorable, you guys.  I loved reading it.  I HAD to know what was going to happen the night of the reservation.  I almost skipped ahead to see if I could find it.  Charli and Gianna are wonderful female characters.  I found myself identifying with both of them.  Like Charli, I would most definitely put my education before any man.  Like Gianna, I've been hurt before and learned to be my own support system.  #TeamDontNeedAMan

This story was also unique because it was published in the first ever shopfiction™ format.  At the end of every chapter there's a link to a scene on Riley Costello's website where you can watch the chapter unfold AND you can purchase the clothes they're wearing!  I'm sure this will make my fiance super happy, combining clothes AND books.  He'll get over it. 😄

These stories collide in the most brilliantly suspenseful way.  You'll laugh.  You'll cry.  You'll immediately want to send this book to your girlfriends.

Hands down, one of my favorite books of the year.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 (As if I would even remotely consider a lower rating)

*Side Note*
I joined #bookstagram and the book blogging community because I wanted to grow with others like me, connecting and promoting each other.  This world can be so bitter and negative, and I was looking to combat that.  I love connecting with authors who, like me are just trying to get themselves out there.  I've had several authors contact me, and all of them have been so positive.  Riley Costello takes the cake for me.  She is so sweet, and she when she talks to you, you can really tell she's a sincere person.  After I finished her book, tears in my eyes, I messaged her because I couldn't wait for my blog post to go up.  She spoke to me like a friend, like we'd known each other forever.  She also writes like that.  Now I need her to write another book so I can cry over that one too.

If she ever approaches you and you're into romance/chick-lit, say yes.  You won't regret it.

Is One Truly the Loneliest Number?

I was given a digital copy of One? by Jennifer L. Cahill.  She reached out to me through Twitter, and she was so sweet.  I couldn't wait to dive into her book.💙 The Plot (From Goodreads): It's London in the mid-noughties before Facebook, iPhones and ubiquitous wifi. Zara has just moved to London for her first real job and struggles to find her feet in a big city with no instruction manual. Penelope works night and day in an investment bank with little or no time for love. At twenty-eight she is positively ancient as far as her mother is concerned and the pressure is on for her to settle down as the big 3-0 is looming. Charlie spends night and day with his band who are constantly teetering on the verge of greatness. Richard has relocated to London from his castle in Scotland in search of the one, and Alyx is barely in one place long enough to hold down a relationship let alone think about the future. One? follows the highs and lows of a group of twenty-somethings living ...

Athena's Choice by Adam Boostrom

I received my copy of Athena's Choice from the promotional team on Instagram in exchange for my honest review. The year is 2099, and men have been absent from the earth for almost 50 years after a virus accidentally wiped all of them from the earth.  There's a project attempting to bring men back and it has become quite controversial.  When the sabotaged project leads authorities to Athena, this completely normal teenager must decide if she wants to help find the culprit. This book was pretty interesting.  It read almost like a movie.  It's definitely something I would watch if there was ever an on screen translation.  The details and imagination of the author were fun to read.  Despite the fact that science fiction is not typically  my thing, I did enjoy my time spent reading it....right up until the end. Before I go any farther, I just have to say it.  The ending sucked.  I HATEDDD it.  It made me want to throw the book....

Lucy Dawson's Don't Ever Tell

Don't Ever Tell was written by Lucy Dawson and published by Bookouture, released on 06/25/19.  I was granted early access to this book in exchange for my honest review.  Because I got too click happy on NetGalley, I'm just now getting to it.  I promise-one day I'll be caught up on my reading!!! Charlotte seems to have the perfect job, family, and life.  Only she knows that her marriage is crumbling, and her husband is oblivious to the fact(because of COURSE he is).  Little does he know that she has hired someone to be her, and when he realizes just who that person is life will change as they know it. The synopsis sounds like a typical thriller, but this one was more enjoyable than most.  The writing allowed me to put some pieces of the puzzle together, just enough to keep me interested and reading.  I couldn't put this book down.  Charlotte was so easy to relate to, especially if you've ever been in an unhappy relationship.  I loved th...
