One Big Spoiler Post - One Day in December

Here we are-the last book of 2019.  I bought One Day in December by Josie Silver because of the hype in the bookstagram community.  It was the last book in a year of trying to branch out.  If only it wasn't garbage.  If you liked this book-great.  I'm going to come out right now and say that I definitely didn't.  I wanted to throw it across the room.  If you want to know why, keep reading.  If you don't want me to ruin this book for you, please go read any of my other blog posts.  Don't say I didn't warn you.

Laurie is standing on the bus when she sees a guy at the bus stop and falls in love with him (because that's apparently something that happens to people).  He doesn't get on the bus, and she searches for him for over a year before giving up.  Cue her roommate and bestie Sarah, bringing home her new boyfriend who she thinks could be "the one."  GUESS WHO IT IS.  I know, I was shocked too. *EYE ROLLLLLLLLL*

Laurie never says anything.  Jack continues to date Sarah.  Laurie stabs her "best friend" in the back by kissing Jack...all standard crap right?  Laurie goes to Thailand, meets a dude (Is the name really important? It's not like he won't be screwed over in this love story for the ages) and marries him.  Sarah finds out Laurie kissed Jack and misses her wedding, but don't worry....Jack gives this highly uncomfortable speech about Laurie right in front of the entire guest list and HIS new girlfriend.

This crap continues over the span of 10 years.  Jack strings along some girl.  Laurie strings along her husband, before leaving him because "they've grown apart."  Um, no.  You never loved him.  You had no business marrying him.  You tried to have a baby with him because that would magically fix things?  Then he gets a job promotion, asks you to start a new life with him and you throw a fit and stomp off like a child.  GROW UP.

Anyway, Jack and ol' girl split up because she finally realizes how stupid she's being.  Jack and Laurie get together.  The end.

Maybe if I wasn't married, this book wouldn't annoy me so much...but the fact that Jack and Laurie were both so incredibly selfish that they couldn't be honest with ANYONE and ruined countless relationships and put others through a lot of unnecessary pain is complete and total bullcrap.  If Sarah was really Laurie's best friend, Laurie should have told the truth from the start.  Sure, she might have had hurt feelings, but it's not like you betrayed her trust for YEARS.

I know this was supposed to be some cute book about a boy and girl falling in love, but I'm not okay with how dishonest they were to get to the end point.  You're grown adults.  Tell people the truth, spare some feelings, and take some responsibility for yourselves.

I hated this book.  Honestly this will put me off of romance books for awhile.  I don't think lying, cheating, and hiding your feelings from the people you love is cute.  I'm not 14 anymore.

Freaking garbage.  What a waste of my damn time.

Is One Truly the Loneliest Number?

I was given a digital copy of One? by Jennifer L. Cahill.  She reached out to me through Twitter, and she was so sweet.  I couldn't wait to dive into her book.💙 The Plot (From Goodreads): It's London in the mid-noughties before Facebook, iPhones and ubiquitous wifi. Zara has just moved to London for her first real job and struggles to find her feet in a big city with no instruction manual. Penelope works night and day in an investment bank with little or no time for love. At twenty-eight she is positively ancient as far as her mother is concerned and the pressure is on for her to settle down as the big 3-0 is looming. Charlie spends night and day with his band who are constantly teetering on the verge of greatness. Richard has relocated to London from his castle in Scotland in search of the one, and Alyx is barely in one place long enough to hold down a relationship let alone think about the future. One? follows the highs and lows of a group of twenty-somethings living ...

Athena's Choice by Adam Boostrom

I received my copy of Athena's Choice from the promotional team on Instagram in exchange for my honest review. The year is 2099, and men have been absent from the earth for almost 50 years after a virus accidentally wiped all of them from the earth.  There's a project attempting to bring men back and it has become quite controversial.  When the sabotaged project leads authorities to Athena, this completely normal teenager must decide if she wants to help find the culprit. This book was pretty interesting.  It read almost like a movie.  It's definitely something I would watch if there was ever an on screen translation.  The details and imagination of the author were fun to read.  Despite the fact that science fiction is not typically  my thing, I did enjoy my time spent reading it....right up until the end. Before I go any farther, I just have to say it.  The ending sucked.  I HATEDDD it.  It made me want to throw the book....

Lucy Dawson's Don't Ever Tell

Don't Ever Tell was written by Lucy Dawson and published by Bookouture, released on 06/25/19.  I was granted early access to this book in exchange for my honest review.  Because I got too click happy on NetGalley, I'm just now getting to it.  I promise-one day I'll be caught up on my reading!!! Charlotte seems to have the perfect job, family, and life.  Only she knows that her marriage is crumbling, and her husband is oblivious to the fact(because of COURSE he is).  Little does he know that she has hired someone to be her, and when he realizes just who that person is life will change as they know it. The synopsis sounds like a typical thriller, but this one was more enjoyable than most.  The writing allowed me to put some pieces of the puzzle together, just enough to keep me interested and reading.  I couldn't put this book down.  Charlotte was so easy to relate to, especially if you've ever been in an unhappy relationship.  I loved th...
