The Dead Girls Club was released by Crooked Lane Books on December 10, 2019.  It was written by Damien Angelica Walters.  I was given a free copy through NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Heather knew the stories were just that, until her best friend Becca began insisting the Red Lady was real--and she could prove it.

That belief got Becca killed.

It's been nearly thirty years, but Heather has never told anyone what really happened that night--that Becca was right and the Red Lady was real. Y'ALL. I CAN'T EVEN WITH THIS BOOK.  I finished it in less than 24 hours.  It was so incredibly good.  This took me back to being a kid and the days of Bloody Mary and sneaking horror movies to watch way too young.  It was CREEPY.  It was FANTASTIC.  It made me so uneasy at times.  Walters sets up her descriptions so well.  If you have an active imagination like I do, you may find that you creep yourself out by going too far in your imagination.  The ending shattered me.  I started to suspect something bad was coming, but it's just so incredibly gut-wrenching.

This book could not have been more geared towards my interests.  I loved the idea of this book so much I actually bought the hardcover copy before I ever read the digital one.  Now I just need Damien Angelica Walters to put out a hundred more books, just as creepy as this one.  This left me with such a book hangover and I don't regret one minute of it.  I wish I could forget everything about this book so I could read it again for the first time.

No brainer on this one.  ALL THE STARS.

Athena's Choice by Adam Boostrom

I received my copy of Athena's Choice from the promotional team on Instagram in exchange for my honest review. The year is 2099, and men have been absent from the earth for almost 50 years after a virus accidentally wiped all of them from the earth.  There's a project attempting to bring men back and it has become quite controversial.  When the sabotaged project leads authorities to Athena, this completely normal teenager must decide if she wants to help find the culprit. This book was pretty interesting.  It read almost like a movie.  It's definitely something I would watch if there was ever an on screen translation.  The details and imagination of the author were fun to read.  Despite the fact that science fiction is not typically  my thing, I did enjoy my time spent reading it....right up until the end. Before I go any farther, I just have to say it.  The ending sucked.  I HATEDDD it.  It made me want to throw the book....

Heartless by Elsie Silver

Elsie Silver has once again proven why she’s an auto buy author for me after reading this book! Cade is SUCH A GRUMP and I love him so much for it. Reading book 1, Willa was easily one of my most favorite characters, and I frequently blew up my bestie’s phone with things like “Willa just said _____.” It’s no surprise to me that I also loved her in this story. I’m not huge on age gap romances for my own insane reasons, but I thought it was done well here. Overall, I loved everything about this book. I had an absolute blast while reading it, and it now sits on my shelf as one of my most treasured books.
