 Today is my stop on the book tour for The Ex Boyfriend by Rona Halsall.  It was published by Bookouture on September 30, 2020.  I was given a copy of the book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

This book was such a trip.  It starts with every mother's worst fear-being accused of harming her own daughter.  Mia is unexpectedly sick and her mother Becca is terrified of losing her.  Her marriage is falling apart, and it was only natural for her to reminisce on better days with Connor. 

The story was fully of twists and turns and I really enjoyed it, despite guessing the ending 1/3 of the way through the book.  The characters aren't the best people, but the story made up for it.  It was just really hard to connect with Becca because she's so frantic.  The other characters aren't much better in terms of likability.  The story drew me in and I blew through this book.  For anyone looking to read a quick thriller, this book is perfect.

Rona lives on the Isle of Man with her husband, two dogs and three guinea pigs. She has been a bookworm since she was a child and now she's actually creating stories of her own, which still feels like a dream come true. 

She is an outdoorsy person and loves stomping up a mountain, walking the coastal paths and exploring the wonderful beaches on the Island while she's plotting how to kill off her next victim. She also makes sure she deletes her Google history on a regular basis, because... well, you can't be too careful when you spend your life researching new and ingenious ways for people to die.

She has three children and two step-children who are now grown up and leading varied and interesting lives, which provides plenty of ideas for new stories!

When the Sky Fell on Splendor by Emily Henry

 If you thought I hated Great Big Boring Life, just wait until you hear about my thoughts on this one! Seriously, I think Emily Henry and I are about to break up forever. It’s not me, it’s her. The premise for this book was really fantastic, but the execution was a total failure. The characters weren’t engaging, and I found myself hate reading this one. There are too many monotonous characters that run together, and I didn’t find myself rooting for any of them. There was supposed to be a found family trope somewhere in this one, but maybe I missed it because I was too busy rolling my eyes at the stupidity of it all. Speaking of stupidity, let’s talk about this “ending.” This ending filled me so full of rage that I was stomping around my house yelling “do you believe this crap” to my dog. Spoiler alert, she didn’t get it either.  I would say the only good thing about this book is the cover, but that’s ruined because of the steaming pile of trash that was the ending, so I can’t ...
