Ask Again Yes by Mary Beth Keane

This book was extraordinary but damn was it sad. I got this book a million years ago and didn’t read the blurb before I dove into the read. Everything is just so devastatingly sad. It was almost difficult to read at times. If you plan on reading this, make sure you have something lighter planned for immediately after you’re finished.

Sleepless by Romy Hausmann

This book was not what I expected, but I had a blast with it all the same. It was kind of slow to start at first because of the way the story was being told. It definitely is a puzzle you put together over the course of the book. The ending was absolutely insane, and I gobbled it up. I’m not usually one for slow burns, but this one was fantastic.

Courtroom Drama by Neely Tubati Alexander

Sydney gets the chance of her lifetime to sit on the jury for a high profile case featuring one of the stars from her favorite reality TV show and she has all of these grand plans for how she plans to lead the jury…right up until her long forgotten childhood best friend Damon is selected too. She and Damon soon find ways to start breaking the “no fraternization” rules set by the judge to spend time together, and she realizes her feelings for him never truly went away. This book was SO FUN. I love any book that features any drama in a courtroom setting, and this was no exception. This story very much gives off Legally Blonde and Jury Duty vibes, and it’s a mix of murder mystery and second chance romance. The ending was truly unexpected and equally as spectacular. I had a blast reading this, and the fast-paced story kept me invested every step of the way. If any of these tropes sound up your alley, please go out and grab this! You won’t be disappointed!

Our Wayward Fate by Gloria Chao

This was such an interesting read. You follow two teenagers as they struggle to deal with their parents unrealistic expectations. For Ali Chu, she not only has no desire to obey her mother, but she also wants to discover why she’s so miserable to Ali and her hard working father. I truly did not expect the route this book took, and it was refreshing. The teenagers in this book are all going through it in their own separate ways, and my heart broke a little for each of them. This was a quick but impactful read, and I would easily recommend this to the teenage/young adult demographic.

You’ll be the Death of Me by Karen McManus

Truth time - I finished this book over a month ago and I had to go back and read other reviews on it because I could not for the life of me remember the plot. That should tell you all you need to know about this book. There was a time I really enjoyed this author’s books, but now they just all feel identical to each other. I was entertained while reading, but the story was nothing to write home about, and it’s not a book I will end up keeping. On to the next one!

Homicide and Halo-Halo by Mia P. Manansala

I was really hoping that I would love this, but I had such a hard time staying invested in the story. The characters fell flat for me, and it didn’t feel like the story was truly moving along until we got a rushed ending. I do think there’s an audience for this book. I’m just not sure that it’s me.

The Legacy by Elle Kennedy

I think this might be my favorite book of the series. I truly loved reuniting with this group several years after meeting them. I loved seeing how their lives were changing, yet they still remained connected to each other. This one was so freaking good. It left me with such a book hangover.

The Goal by Elle Kennedy

This is my least favorite book in the series. I don’t super love Sabrina, or the decisions she made. I spent so much of the book stressing about her wasting her bright future that I had a hard time enjoying the actual romance aspect of the story. It didn’t go the way these types of book normally go, so I was grateful for that

The Score by Elle Kennedy

I love that we got a book with Allie, Hannah’s best friend. She’s such a ball buster and I love her for it. I’m also glad she got away from the boyfriend we met in book 1 because my god, he’s a pile of trash. I love that Dean, the man who gets everything he wants, falls for the one girl who won’t give him the time of day. Make him wait. Make him sweat it out. I hung on to every chapter of their story. This series is just so stinking good.

Great Big Boring Life by Emily Henry

I just can’t bear to give Julia Whelan 1 star. Before you sharpen your pitchforks, yes I have read her books before. The lowest rating I gave was 4 stars previously. This book though? This book is awful. The landfill is too good for it. The story is so freaking boring that I spaced out several times and had to go back and re-read entire sections. The FMC and MMC had no chemistry. They were both as entertaining as drying paint. The old lady’s story isn’t worth the chapters she dragged on and on about it. This book feels phoned in, and if anyone else wrote it, it would be getting dragged. I refuse to give a book a high rating just because of the name on the front cover.
