I just can’t bear to give Julia Whelan 1 star.
Before you sharpen your pitchforks, yes I have read her books before. The lowest rating I gave was 4 stars previously.
This book though? This book is awful. The landfill is too good for it. The story is so freaking boring that I spaced out several times and had to go back and re-read entire sections. The FMC and MMC had no chemistry. They were both as entertaining as drying paint. The old lady’s story isn’t worth the chapters she dragged on and on about it. This book feels phoned in, and if anyone else wrote it, it would be getting dragged. I refuse to give a book a high rating just because of the name on the front cover.
