I Found the Perfect Book in I Found You by Lisa Jewell

I know that I'm a super fast reader, but I finished this AMAZING book from Lisa Jewell in less than 24 hours.  That includes an 8 hour work shift, and roughly 7 hours of sleep.  The only thing I could think about when I finished was running to Barnes and Noble and immediately buying all of her books.  Let's dive in.

The Plot (from Goodreads):
East Yorkshire: Single mum Alice Lake finds a man on the beach outside her house. He has no name, no jacket, no idea what he is doing there. Against her better judgement she invites him in to her home.

Surrey: Twenty-one-year-old Lily Monrose has only been married for three weeks. When her new husband fails to come home from work one night she is left stranded in a new country where she knows no one. Then the police tell her that her husband never existed.

Two women, twenty years of secrets and a man who can't remember lie at the heart of Lisa Jewell's brilliant new novel.

This.book.was.SO.GOOD.  I found myself completely lost in the story, trying to figure out who the man was(called Frank by Alice's daughter) and what Alice was thinking bringing a strange man into her house with her 3 children.  Frank starts to walk around the town and memories start coming back to him, which proves too much for his body to take.  Alice falls in lust with the idea of taking care of him during these fainting spells, all the while wondering what exactly made him lose his memory.  Alice and Frank venture out in hopes of recovering more of Frank's memories.

The story goes back and forth between Frank/Alice and Lily, the insane woman who married a man weeks after she met him.  She's delusional, and I felt myself internally screaming "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" when I read she moved countries for this guy, but couldn't name any of his family members.  I can only imagine how terrified she was to be in London by herself with no money, no car, and no clue what to do.  Lucky for her, she tracks down a coworker of her husband's who knows just about as much of Carl as she does.  Together they are blindly trying to track the mystery man down.

The story that weaves the characters' paths together is quite incredible.  I won't go into the details because it would be a total spoiler.  Let's just say it's an opened eye look into human emotions and actions.  How far would you go to protect someone?  You will wonder that several times throughout this book.  I'm still left wondering.

This was a quick mystery read where I could totally lose myself.  Lisa Jewell is an exceptional storyteller.  This won't be my last book of hers.

Is One Truly the Loneliest Number?

I was given a digital copy of One? by Jennifer L. Cahill.  She reached out to me through Twitter, and she was so sweet.  I couldn't wait to dive into her book.💙 The Plot (From Goodreads): It's London in the mid-noughties before Facebook, iPhones and ubiquitous wifi. Zara has just moved to London for her first real job and struggles to find her feet in a big city with no instruction manual. Penelope works night and day in an investment bank with little or no time for love. At twenty-eight she is positively ancient as far as her mother is concerned and the pressure is on for her to settle down as the big 3-0 is looming. Charlie spends night and day with his band who are constantly teetering on the verge of greatness. Richard has relocated to London from his castle in Scotland in search of the one, and Alyx is barely in one place long enough to hold down a relationship let alone think about the future. One? follows the highs and lows of a group of twenty-somethings living ...

Wine or Lose by Amanda Chaperon

I was so freaking disappointed by this book. I bought the alternate covers (which are absolutely stunning) at Romance Con and I expected to read about (PER THE AUTHOR) small town charm, office rivals to lovers, and a happily ever after. Unfortunately for me, I didn’t feel like I got any of that. The first problem lies within the setup of the relationship. Amara and Cal meet in a club, fall in love after like 2 hours, and go back to his place before Amara realizes that Cal is the new CFO that her dad just hired for their family’s winery. He calls her a party princess, she storms out, and fast forward to five years later, when they’re both still holding onto that. How have you seriously not gotten over that one interaction in the span of FIVE YEARS?  Second, Cal hates women. You can’t convince me otherwise. When he was trying to prevent Amara’s father from giving her the company, he ONLY talked to her father, shook his hand, and plead his case with him. He paid no attention to ...
