I know that I'm a super fast reader, but I finished this AMAZING book from Lisa Jewell in less than 24 hours. That includes an 8 hour work shift, and roughly 7 hours of sleep. The only thing I could think about when I finished was running to Barnes and Noble and immediately buying all of her books. Let's dive in.

This.book.was.SO.GOOD. I found myself completely lost in the story, trying to figure out who the man was(called Frank by Alice's daughter) and what Alice was thinking bringing a strange man into her house with her 3 children. Frank starts to walk around the town and memories start coming back to him, which proves too much for his body to take. Alice falls in lust with the idea of taking care of him during these fainting spells, all the while wondering what exactly made him lose his memory. Alice and Frank venture out in hopes of recovering more of Frank's memories.
The story goes back and forth between Frank/Alice and Lily, the insane woman who married a man weeks after she met him. She's delusional, and I felt myself internally screaming "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" when I read she moved countries for this guy, but couldn't name any of his family members. I can only imagine how terrified she was to be in London by herself with no money, no car, and no clue what to do. Lucky for her, she tracks down a coworker of her husband's who knows just about as much of Carl as she does. Together they are blindly trying to track the mystery man down.
The story that weaves the characters' paths together is quite incredible. I won't go into the details because it would be a total spoiler. Let's just say it's an opened eye look into human emotions and actions. How far would you go to protect someone? You will wonder that several times throughout this book. I'm still left wondering.
This was a quick mystery read where I could totally lose myself. Lisa Jewell is an exceptional storyteller. This won't be my last book of hers.
